Prof. Haruichi Kanaya

Haruichi Kanaya was born in Yamaguchi, Japan, in 1967. He received the B.S. (Physics) degree from Yamaguchi University in 1990. In 1992 and 1994, he received the Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Engineering from Department of Applied Science, Faculty of Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan. In 1994, he became a Research Fellow (PD) of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Japan. From 1994 to 1999 he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Yamaguchi University, Yamaguchi, Japan as a Research Associate. In 1998, he was a visiting scholar in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electronics, Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan. He is also a Professor in System LSI Research center, Research Institute of Superconductor Science and Systems, Research Center for Advanced Biomechanics and a Vice Director in Center for Japan-Egypt Cooperation in Science and Technology (E-UST Center), Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan. Dr. Kanaya is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA and a senior member of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), Japan. His research activities include superconducting microwave devices, RF CMOS System LSI, antennas for wide band or high speed telecommunication systems and energy harvesting systems from ambient sources. He has more than 200 technical papers in various international journals and conferences and symposia.

Abstract

“Energy harvesting” is also called environmental power generation and is a power generation technology that harvests various types of energy such as light, heat, vibration, etc., and converts it into electrical energy with a rectifier. The author proposed an antenna- integrated circuit that harvests the weak microwaves radiation from the broadcasting or telecommunication systems, and converts them into a DC power supply. In this presentation, the implant devices for the battery-less medical and healthcare applications are introduced.

Prof. Mahmmoud Abdallah

Dr. Mahmoud A. Abdalla was born in 1973. He received the B.Sc. degree, with grade of excellent with honors, in electrical engineering from the Electrical Engineering Department, Military Technical College, Cairo, Egypt in 1995. He was awarded the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Military Technical college in 2000, and the PhD degree from Microwave and Communication group, School of Electrical Engineering, Manchester University, UK, in 2009. He has been with Military Technical College since 1996 where he is nowa professor and he is the head of the electromagnetic waves group in Electronic Engineering Department. Also, he has been a Visiting Professor in Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada since 2017. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. His research is focusing on miniaturized multiband antennas/wideband microwave/ millimeter components and antennas with great attention is to employ metamaterial / EBG, structures. Also his research includes electromagnetic MIMO antennas, energy harvesting systems, smart antennas, frequency selective surfaces, radar absorber and electromagnetic launchers. He is currently an editor in a reviewer in many electromagnetic journals such as IEEE Transactions on Antenna and Propagation, IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, IEEE Transactions in Microwave Theory & Techniques, IEEE Microwave Wireless Components Letters, IEEE Transactions in Magnetics, IET Microwaves, Antenna and Propagation, IET Electronics Letters, IET Communications, Microwave and Optical Technology Letetrs, International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies, Scentific Reports, AEU Int. journal of communication and electronics, Personal Wireless Communication, Applied Physics, and others. He was awarded the top 1 % Publon world wide reviewer award for 2018 and 2019. Dr. Mahmoud Abdalla is a senior member of the IEEE and URSI and the European Microwave Association EuMA. Dr. Mahmoud was the recipient of Egyptian encouragement state prize for engineering sciences in 2014.

Prof. Ahmed Elwakil

Ahmed Elwakil was born in Cairo, Egypt. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electronics and Communications from Cairo University, Egypt and his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, National University of Ireland, University College Dublin. After that he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Sharjah University, Emirates, where he is currently a Full Professor. He was also with the Egyptian Nuclear Research Centre as a Nuclear Instrumentation Engineer and then as a faculty member till 2007. He was a Visiting Professor at University of Calgary (Alberta, Canada) (2008, 2010, 2012), Queens University (Belfast, UK) (2004), Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio) (2000), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, Saudi Arabia) (2014, 2016) and Imperial Col- lege London (2017). He is an Adjunct Prof. at the Nano-electronics Integrated Systems Center at Nile University, Egypt. and is also an Adjunct Prof. at the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, Canada. Prof. Elwakil’s research interests are interdisciplinary among several areas mainly Circuit Theory, Electronic Circuit Design, Nonlinear Dynamics, Chaos Theory, as well as Fractional-Order Circuits and Systems with diverse applica- tions ranging from the modeling of oscillatory networks and nonlinear behavior in electronic circuits and plasma physics to modeling of energy storage devices, bio-materials and biological tissues. He is the author and co-author of over 300 publications in these areas including two US patents and two books. His current H-index is 42. He has served as a reviewer, review committee member and organizing committee member for many IEEE circuits and systems flagship conferences including ISCAS, NOLTA, ICECS, ECCTD, ICM, NDES, TSP and ISSPA. Currently, he serves as an Editor-in-Chief for the Int. J. of Circuit Theory and Applications (Wiley) and was a past Editor for the J. of Dynam- ics of Continuous, Discrete and Impulsive Systems: Series-B, published by the American Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS). He was a Senior Edito- rial Board Member of the IEEE J. Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems, and is currently an Associate Editor of the Int. J. Electronics and Communications (Elsevier) and for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits & Systems-I: Regular papers. Prof. Elwakil is an Associate Member of the Centre for Chaos Control and Synchronization at the City University of Hong Kong and has served as an in- structor for a number of courses organized by the United Nations University (UNU) and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP, Trieste, Italy), where he was also an Associate member. He was a keynote speaker at the sixth International Workshop on Chaos Fractals and Applications, Taiyuan, Shanxi, China, August 2013, a keynote speaker at the Int. Conf. on Fractional Differentiation and Its Applications (ICFDA), Catania, Italy, June 2014 and a keynote speaker at the 39 th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), Vienna, Austria, June 2016 where he lectured on 1the theory of Fractional-order circuits and systems. He has been a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Nonlinear Circuits and Systems (TCNCAS) since 2003 and is an international observer in the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) action on fractional-order system-analysis syn- thesis and their importance for future design (CA15225). He was also a keynote speaker at the Int. Conf. on Microelectronics (ICM), Cairo, Egypt, Dec. 2016 and at ELECO 2017 (Bursa, Turkey). Prof. Elwakil was a Lead Guest Editor for the IEEE J. of Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits & Systems, special issue on fractional-order circuits and systems (Sep. 2013) and a Guest Editor for a special issue on Chaos- Fractals Theories and Applications published in the J. of Mathematical Prob- lems in Engineering, 2014. He was also the guest editor for a special issue on Fractional-Order Circuits (June 2016) in the J. Circuits Systems & Signal Processing (Springer) and has organized many special sessions at specialized conferences including a special session on the progress on fractional-order de- vices and systems in interdisciplinary applications, European Conf. on Circuit Theory and Design ECCTD, Catania, Italy, 2017. He is also as guest editor of a special issue on the Design and Implementation of Fractional-Order Cir- cuits & Systems in Real-World Applications (Microelectronics Journal, Elsevier, 2019). He received the Egyptian Government first class medal for achievements in Engineering Sciences in 2003 and 2009 respectively as well as the Excellence award in Engineering Sciences in 2015 and the prestigious Khalifa award from the president of the UAE in 2020.

Prof. Magdy Saeb,

Prof. Magdy Saeb received the BSEE. School of Engineering, Cairo University, in 1974, the MSEE, and Ph.D. Degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of California, Irvine, in 1981 and 1985, respectively. He was with Kaiser Aerospace and Electronics, Irvine California, and The Atomic Energy Establishment, Anshas, Egypt. He is a professor emeritus & former head of the Department of Computer Engineering, Arab Academy of Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, Alexandria, Egypt. He was on leave working as a principal researcher in the Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS). Now he is the CTO of Great Wall Information Security, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His current research interests include Cryptography, FPGA Implementations of Cryptography and Steganography Data Security Techniques, Encryption Processors, Mobile Agent Security. He holds five Intellectual Property Patents in the area of cryptography. He has published more than 70 technical peer-reviewed papers in the information security area.

Dr. Hoda Baraka

Dr. Hoda Baraka is currently Head of Computer Engineering Department Cairo University. She has ‎more than 50 reviewed publications in top journals and conferences in the area of information ‎technology, networking, natural language processing, database design and software engineering.‎ Dr. Baraka has thirty years of extensive experience as consultant in the field of information technology ‎for public and private sector. She has been an active member in the field of Information Technology, ‎particularly in information systems analysis, design, automation, project management, planning, ‎scheduling, reporting, and team organization in different governmental sectors since 1983. Her ‎consulting achievements include: policy development, infrastructure development, ICT for community ‎development, Sustainable development, Human Resource Development, Capacity Building & Training.‎

Celimuge Wu,

Celimuge Wu received his Ph.D. degree from The University of Electro- Communications, Japan in 2010. He is currently an associate professor with the Graduate School of Informatics and Engineering, The University of Electro-Communications. His current research interests include vehicular networks, IoT, big data, and mobile edge computing. He is/has been a TPC Co-Chair of Wireless Days 2021, Wireless Days 2019, ICT-DM 2019, and ICT-DM 2018, and a track Co-Chair of many international conferences including　VTC2020-Spring, ICCCN 2019 and IEEE PIMRC 2016. He serves as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, IEEE Access, Wireless Networks, IEICE Transactions on Communications, International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, and MDPI Sensors. He is the chair of IEEE TCGCC SIG on Green Internet of Vehicles, and IEEE TCBD SIG on Big Data with Computational Intelligence.

Prof. Ahmed Khattab,

Ahmed Khattab is an Associate Professor in the Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering Department at Cairo University. He is also an adjunct Associate Professor in the American University in Cairo (AUC). He received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the Center for Advanced Computer Studies (CACS) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA, in 2011. He received a Master of Electrical Engineering (MEE) Degree from Rice University, USA, in 2009. He also received M.Sc. and B.Sc. (Honors) degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt, in 2004 and 2002, respectively. Dr. Khattab is the recipient of Egypt State First Class Medallion of Excellence in 2020 and Egypt State Encouragement Award for Engineering Sciences in 2017. He is an IEEE senior member. His current research interests are in the broad areas of wireless networking including, but not limited to, the Internet of Things (IoT), wireless sensor networks, vehicular networks, cognitive radio networks, security and machine learning. The emphasis of his research is on the design, optimization, and implementation of high-performance schemes for such wireless networks. His prior research experience ranges from resource management and scheduling in wireless cellular networks, opportunistic spectrum management and multi-antenna IEEE 802.11 networks, to compressive sensing. Dr. Khattab has authored/co-authored 3 books, 3 book chapters, over 90 journal and conference publications, and a US patent. He serves as a reviewer in many IEEE transactions, journals and conferences, and is a member of the technical committee of several prestigious conferences such as IEEE Globecom, IEEE ICC, IEEE ICCCN, and IEEE WF-IoT. He also served in the organizing committee of several conferences such as IEEE ICM, IEEE ICECS, and IEEE ICASSP. He won several best paper, best thesis and best project awards from IEEE conferences.

Prof. Mohamed Abo Zahhad

professor of wireless communications and multimedia processing. He received B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E degrees in electrical engineering, both from Assiut University (AU), Egypt in 1979 and 1983, respectively. In 1988, he received Ph. D. degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK and AU through channel system. He promoted to Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in Jan.1999, respectively. He has been elected the positions of vice-dean for graduated studies, from August 2006 till June 2012 and the chair of Electrical and Electronics Department from Nov. 2013 till Dec. 2016 both in Faculty of Engineering, AU. Currently, he is the Dean of School of Electronics, Communi- cations and Computer Engineering, Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), New Borg El Arab, Alexandria-Egypt since Jan. 2017. He is also the General Director of the E-JUST Information and Communication Technology Centre. Recently, he has been selected by the ministry of higher education as an expert for setting the study plans and regulations for new constructed Egyptian universities. He worked as a consultant for curriculum reform for Egyptian, Jordanian and Saudi Arabia Universities. He is the founder of Biomedical and Bioinformatics Engineering program, E-JUST. Prof. Abo-Zahhad interests include biomedical and genomic signal processing, multimedia processing, optical and digital filters, switched-capacitor circuits, data compression, wavelet- transforms, genetic algorithms, immune algorithms, wireless sensor nodes, MIMO and millimeter wave wireless communications, energy harvesting, and electronic circuits. He was a recipient of the Encouragement State Award in Engineering, from the Egyptian Research and Technology Academy, Ministry of Higher Education, Egypt, in 2005. He has published more than 180 papers in recognized impacted international journals and conferences.
